Speed dating, who has tried it before?
Who of you have been to speed dating before? I'm just wondering whether I should try it out. How were the candidates there? Which of you fell in love? Who has had bad experiences with it? I would be interested if it's worth it.
I once went to a speed-dating event organized by a local club owner. Long story short—I didn’t find it particularly great for me personally. Sure, it’s an interesting concept and kind of “something new.” But the situation where you’re talking to the other person feels completely artificial.
There’s practically no time to really get to know someone. You go through a few questions, roughly size up the other person, and anything else—if it happens at all—comes after the event ends. In my opinion, the only advantage of speed-dating is that you’re meeting singles who are also looking and have the same intention: to meet someone or find a partner for a relationship.
So, singles there share the same motivation, and there’s an upfront consensus about the goals. But in my view, speed-dating is nothing more than a kind of jumpstart. Still, I wish you lots of luck if you give it a try!
I have been to speed dating before, and it was quite fun. The people were all nice. I saw it happening here in my city and decided to join. There were two nice guys during the getting-to-know-you rounds, and I ended up meeting them again. They had also indicated that they would like to see me again. That's how speed dating works. You can only reconnect with those who find you likable as well. I occasionally meet up with one of them, and we go out together. Unfortunately, it hasn't evolved into more than just a friendship.
