Do not ask us I’m not even being mean seriously don’t we will answer with stuff that’ll make us happy not you you should look for stuff that makes you happy she should have a personality that blows your mind

I’m not really looking for a woman at this time. I’d also prefer not to meet any women, other than necessary for professional work purposes. That goes for men, too, for that matter. I’m pretty content with the people already in my life. I’ve already found, and married, the woman I was looking for.

But I guess I’ll talk about 20 yrs ago, when I was looking for a woman for a relationship. And why I found the woman I was looking for.

She is interested in me. Seems pretty simple. I was looking for someone who would be and was interested in me. This first criterion seems to eliminate a great majority of candidates. Seriously, though, being interested in me carries a high burden. First they have find me attractive. Second they have to tolerate me and my quirks. They also have to genuinely be interested in me, and not in just having a relationship, or in the superficial stuff.
she is attractive to me. I’m not saying I’m a great looking man, but that’s why there was point number 1. Once that point is passed then I have to find her attractive. Seems fair right? I’ve gone on dates and just simply didn’t find her attractive. I wasn’t about to force things when the attraction just isn’t there. I concede it’s superficial. But it is also fundamental.
she has an air of innocence and earnestness. I had been burned severely by relationships with liars and cheaters. Yeah that’s “s” for multiple. By that time I was very wary of dishonest women. I wasn’t about to tolerate lying, even white lies or exaggerations. I began to pay close attention to anecdotes told by the women I dated. It wasn’t to verify any facts (although sometimes that was relevant.). But I was really sensitive to anecdotes which seemed designed to manipulate, especially ones to elicit sympathy. Think “Nigerian prince” types.
she is drama free. I’m allergic to conflict. I would never get into a relationship where it seems there’s always some conflict, whether it’s with me or anyone else. A woman who’s always complaining about her girlfriends is a big red flag, for example. A woman who’s always escalating things is too much drama. Yelling, screaming, crying … ummm no thanks.
She is responsible. It’s not just about financial stability. A person who pays their bills is showing that they have self control and discipline. A stack of unpaid bills, vehicle repossessed, phones ringing with debt collectors - huge red flags!
oh almost forgot one - she was child-free. This should be number one, as someone with children would have been, for me, a dealbreaker. As to the reasons why I didn’t date single moms… well that’s a huge other discussion.
She is *** and tobacco free. Yeah, another dealbreaker.
Sense of humor (that matches mine). I’ve dated some girls who were very pretty and nice … but just didn’t have a sense of humor. Or that I didn’t get their sense of humor. Laughing at the same stuff, or at least understanding why I’d laugh at something, well that’s a huge deal. I’m prone to making snide / sarcastic remarks. I’m prone to find humor in dark situations. Of course I couldn’t be with someone who was easily offended (or just confused)by my humor.
What did NOT matter to me: education, politics, cooking ability, wealth.
