Who I am

If you had asked 20-year-old me where I’d be in life, “prison for a long stretch” would NOT have made the vision board. I was born in North Carolina, raised in Germany and Georgia, and eventually landed back in Fayetteville. Life had its hills and valleys (more like rollercoaster loops), and at 27 I made some choices that brought me here. Now I’m 48, a lot wiser, a lot calmer, and definitely a better man than the younger version of myself. These days, I try to make the most out of where I am. Before prison, I worked in club promotion and security while going to community college for business administration. Now, my life looks much different—I serve as a field minister, helping men around me find direction, purpose, and hope. It’s meaningful work, and it’s helped me grow in ways I never imagined.
A few things that keep me going: reading, pouring into younger guys who are trying to figure life out, studying scripture, coffee (seriously… coffee), worship music, and pretending the food here is edible. I try to exercise, but sometimes my motivation goes missing—if you find it, please return it.
Things I miss: family time, traveling, dogs, eating out, and being able to sit outside without 900 conversations happening around me at once.
