"Dating""

Many dating review sites aren’t fully independent because they make money through affiliate marketing. They earn commissions when users click through to a dating service or sign up. This can influence which services appear at the top, while free dating platforms or those without affiliate programs may be left out.

Online Dating and the Rise of Review Sites

Online dating is becoming more popular, and the number of dating sites, apps, and matchmaking services continues to grow. Most charge a fee, though some are free. At the same time, more websites have emerged to test, review, and rank dating services—often describing themselves as “independent.”

Why Commission-Based Dating Reviews Can Fall Short

Many dating review platforms rely on paid referrals. They earn a commission when you visit a service or sign up through one of their links. That financial incentive can affect their recommendations and make it harder to tell whether a ranking reflects the quality of a service or the commission it pays.

Some reviews also lack transparency about how services are selected and ranked. That makes it harder to compare your options and judge how much weight to give the results.

How Commissions Can Affect Dating Site Rankings

Dating services that pay higher affiliate commissions may have a better chance of appearing near the top of a review site’s rankings. That raises questions about how independent those results are: the most visible service may not be the best fit for users, but the one that offers the highest commission.

Services without affiliate programs may be missing from these rankings altogether. As a result, the options you see may not represent the full range of dating sites available.

Why Free Dating Sites And Apps Are Missing From Many Reviews

Free dating services are often absent from commission-driven reviews. That can make them harder to discover—not because they are irrelevant to singles, but because the review site has no commission to earn by featuring them.

The same may be true of dating sites and apps that don’t charge members. If they don’t offer a commission program for publishers or advertisers, review platforms may barely mention them—or leave them out entirely.

How Trustworthy Are Dating Review Sites?

Some review sites don’t operate independently. When commissions influence which services get featured or ranked, the results may not give users a complete or impartial picture.

Online reviews can help people make decisions. But when dating services aren’t assessed transparently, it’s harder to know whether a ranking is genuinely useful.

Do You Have to Rely on Comparison Sites?

No. You can search for dating services yourself, but it’s worth looking at search engine results critically, too. Paid ads commonly appear near the top of search results. When you’re looking for a dating service, it may be worth checking further down the page as well. You could find free dating sites and apps or local services that don’t appear in comparison rankings.

Look beyond a service’s position in search results and consider other members’ experiences. Reviews that aren’t independent may be less informative, and smaller but reputable services can end up below well-known brands with larger advertising budgets. Look for recommendations from other singles, including people who met their partner through a less heavily advertised dating platform.

By checking several sources instead of relying on a single ranking, you’ll have a better chance of finding a dating service that suits you—and perhaps a lasting relationship.

Why You May Not See freshSingle.com on Review Sites—And Why Signing Up Is Still Worth It

Many well-known review sites and dating service rankings don’t include freshSingle.de. The reason is simple: we don’t run an affiliate program, so we don’t pay partners commissions for clicks or registrations. That means commercial review platforms have little financial incentive to recommend our dating site and app.

For you, that means freshSingle is completely free for everyone, with no hidden costs. You can search profiles and send and receive unlimited messages at no cost. We also focus on genuine connections and safety. We manually review every profile and may use video identity verification if something seems suspicious. This helps reduce spam, fake profiles, and scams.
